DIY iPod Horizontal Stand

Inspired by the Macbook stand. I decided to create a horizontal iPod stand using the same concept since I've always wanted a horizontal iPod stand.

This time it was abit trickier because there was no guide to follow to I had to take my iPod out and make the measurements myself. The iPod stand is many many times smaller thean the Macbook one and it had to be more inclined so that I could easily see the screen.

Here's the rough sketch I made. I had to make some adjustments because I was afraid the the CG was too skewed to one side.

After that, the retracing on the cardboard begins. This time, unlike the Macbook stand, I decided to use some spare black mounting board I found while cleaning my room today. Its like cardboard, acutally its like many pieces of paper glued together. Its not as tough as cardboard but it's hard. And since the iPod isn't that heavy its the perfect material. It's black too!

Here is one leg, 1 more to go. Black really looks good.

And here are the 2 legs and connecting joint.

Here's the end result

It was almost perfect except that I made a miscaculation on the connecting joints by making them a bit too wide. Also the white-ish insides were quite ugly.

Hence I decided to make another pair of legs. So that I joined the exsisting 2 legs to gether to form 1 thicker leg which was black on both sides and fit the connecting gap nicely

While making the other pair, I was pretty impatient and this happened.

I guess I should have cut out the parts properly since cardboard is such a stubborn thing to work with. So if you are going to work with cardboard next time, don't try to rip it out!

But no worries, I glued it back and in no time, my stand was done

Here's the final outcome!

I think I should make a PSP and handphone stand too =D!
